The Movie We Made - for Nick

SO, I don't really blog that often and when I do I never get round to mentioning all the stuff we have been up to, but , here are a few highlights from this hectic week.
We just finished shooting a new music video for the wonderful Nick Huggins, it was a lot of fun.

This week we are going up to Sydney for a conference where I will be doing a pitch ...
Fingers crossed.
After a very sad and distressing week it was refreshing to be able to finish it off by focussing on smiles like this.





Nothing like a bit of harmonious over achieving brothers rocking out in front of a happy crowd at a great venue. I can't believe they might be turning the Palais Theatre in to apartments??? Craziness.


Evermore played with a 21 piece Zulu choir visiting from South Africa for the first time. Man do those guys let off good energy.

The clock is ticking and I am leaving Melbourne soon, excited to shoot and see all my friends overseas, and excited to meet more 11 year olds. Let me know where you will be in July :)

Sore tum tums

We just got cake and ate it in the car in the dark then realised it was mouldy = GROSS! I took it back and the severely defensive shop lady starting yelling at me, no sooner than she grabbed the remaining cake and mushed it so hard in to the gladwrap then threw it in the bin quickly. Talk about destroying the evidence. I LOOK LIKE TROUBLE apparently, and she has been working around food for 35 years and never had ANY trouble.. so you know, I can go to bed feeling a bit queezy in the gut but ever so tough knowing that I am BAD ASS by The Real Greek Souvlaki Cafe standards...

She messed with the wrong girl I tell you, the wrong girl.
Especially now that I am 26 and all bitter about old age and stuff, plus I hav had lots of cake lately so I am cakewise some would think...

Her argument was "It was in the fridge so it can't be off!"

Maybe she will let me wrap random shit up and put it in her fridge and then I can come round every month or two when its green and say "but it is in the FRIDGE so it must be ok"

Ay ay ay, I am USUALLY very sympathetic with these sort of things, I did my days in hospitality, and I know the customer is always right stuff can be a pain, but, hello!
Of all people, telling me that I am 'out for trouble'... hello ! I IS OUT FOR CAKIES! No trouble. My tummy feels gross now.

Hey Gen, dont whinge, you are BAD ASS remember, the worst she has seen in 35 years!

What would you do in my position? She did her best to make a spectacle out of me in front of new customers as they entered the store... She said loudly 'she wants to eat the cake then get her money back too!'

I am really happy with both these short documentaries. I love people so documentaries keep me smiling really.

Kompis screens as part of Reelife Film Festival and was just awarded Best Documentary! Whoop!

Sleepover

Bosco came over for the weekend. He enjoyed many people, Nick, Jules, Gav, Kyran, Brodie, Nick, Susannah, impressed latte sippers, and a dead rat. Overall a good weekend away, some R and R from Ms Tessie who will no doubt be asking questions when he returns home, cleaner, rested and ready for quality Boomie time.

We went out with Nick for yummy Thai near our new house. He is off to Tokyo this weekend and me is very jealous. I can't wait to go over again.


We also went to see some comedy. Andrew McClelland and Lawrence Leungs shows were great. Lawrence's dancing and video footage of his entry in to a breakdance competition at Fed Square. Reminded me of Little Miss Sunshine.

Aindrias has gone back to Ireland which was sad, but at least we got to dose up on eachother, and even meet his crazy Mum who made us laugh uncontrollably at the airport.. I thought Mamma Bailey was bad, Nives was a whole nother story! She got up on the conveyor belt at check in and nearly got whisked away and gave the Singapore airlines lady a heart attack. "CAN YOU GET DOWN!!!!!!!!" But there is something about slightly kookie women in their 50s that means they can chuckle and look 'dumb' and get away with anything! She's cool. She is a doctor. I will see them both in Galway Ireland in a few months ! Can't wait!

I wish there was enough Aindrias (aka Pikey) to go around for everyone in the world. He makes me very happy.


We have been doing some karaoke too, with Jeff of course. Our karaoke mentor. His friend Jodie is a total ham.. so good.


We saw Magic Numbers play coz Aindrias' cousin is the singers partner so we all went down for a look. They were awesome. I highly recommend! Great energy, great harmonies. Which reminds me I have to write and record a song with Hari for my first album...

We took Tess and Bos to the Dog beach for Easter, but Tess had a bee in her bonnet and was picking fights with other dogs, and a naked 4 year old boy so we had to be careful. There were 2 pugs at the beach being cute. This dog Charles subscribed to MY youtube videos... so now I am watching his art. Check it out.

Silent Jens

Ok so it appears I have rekindled my awe of Jens.
Does anyone else agree there is something extra great about this music?
Or perhaps you have to see him live to fully appreciate it. Still, I do like seeing him on youtube. I have really good video of him from a few shows he has done here over the couple of years.
