Tokyo Dec 2006

Well, seeing as this blog is called O Genki Desu Ka I thought I should post some Tokyo photos from my recent trip there, on my way home from Sweden. This blog is always out of order, but I will catch up with Sweden time and nice sunny photos there soon.

We had a last supper late at night at a local place. It was very pretty. It doesn't cost a lot to go to really nice pretty well presented places in Tokyo. I think most people think Tokyo is really expensive but eating out is very affordable.
Finding vegetarian food isn't very easy but it is possible.











This is my lovely friend Elisa - she is always so much fun, and her Mum Yoko is great too! Their english is SO good! They studied hard and it shows!

Why do I love Tokyo so much? So many reasons, all reasons that I know will still make me smile when I go again. For me, it feels like a playground that is always open, with no fences or mean kids that pick fights, or pick pockets. I love the light, both day and night, the energy, 'genki', the shops, the famly marts, the 100 Yen shops, the shoes, the affordable ways to socialise, the karaoke, cassius orange drinks, puri kura PURINTO KURABU = print club = very cute photo booths you can draw on the pics once you take them... (see last Tokyo blog), ahh there are so many more reasons, the people, their playfulness and spontaneity! I long for spontaneous bugs to infect all my friends in Melbourne. I love the people in Tokyo, the energy and the possibility of new adventures at every new corner.

I shot a lot of video stuff I am super happy with in Tokyo, so with some good editing sessions, they will be ready to view soon. It was great to catch up with people like Dhugal and Yuko his super cute girlfriend eating peas above. And Nick who shot some cool pics with me in Harajuku which was a very memorable visit. Every visit to Harajuku is a good time! More soon...

A bit better - but still slow!

I moved house, I have never lived this close to the city, it's good to walk everywhere. Hopefully won't be bumping into naked men in the street anymore. Have been working WAY too much, and not enough on my own projects... lotsa catching up to do...

The Slowest Net

Ok, so I am on the slowest internet I have ever experienced in my life. Even slower than in 1998 when I was downloading pictures of Liv Tyler en masse. I did finish the Alice Sings video though, so that's good! I had to drive to someones house to put it on you tube! Been house hunting, flight hunting, started my new job, occasionally trying to crime fight, and encourage fairness amongst Smith St $2 store traders and a man on his way to a wedding... and spending time with Hari and Ani which always makes me happy. This is their new pup, Chippy!



Umm, yeah as I suspected this net can't handle a couple of 70 k images! (sigh)

A New Year - pt 1

Meeting up with Tony Coco aka Pier Boy was a great idea. We watched the 9.20pm fireworks and it was ace. Not too many crazy people in the city at all! Well not where we were. Twas ace fun. John A and Irene joined us so Gina and I took heaps of happy snaps before heading to Horse Bazzar to see some young kids throwing a WHITE party. NB - I have not worn all white since I was about 8 but it went quite well. No stains, no fire works debris!






This is moments before I retired to bed with a migraine. I don't know how I managed to look so content! I saw John for about 10 seconds max at the Napier St Party. It was HUGER than last year. Took over the entire park. Anyhoo, I realised, despite my pain, that it is not cool to talk about anuryisms at parties so I walked home. Twas a good night til then though. Tony time, John n Irene time, Gina dancefloor time, a heck of a lotta Hewitts and more. Missing the obvious but for now, I have a good supply of photos to keep me laughing/smiling on that front!
